Last week I learnt how to get started on writing my own component.
September's Sydney User Group meeting happened to be on while I
was up there for work, so I called by last Tuesday to meet some Joomla
folk in the Emerald City and see what Greg had to teach us about writing components.

Joomla 1.5 Training in Melbourne

Andrew Eddie (Joomla core developer) and Dinah Randall are going to be running some Joomla
1.5 training events for Joomla implementors/designers/developers (as opposed to
end users, who come later). They are currently going for one-day events in Sydney
and Brisbane, and are also open to running one in Melbourne, if
there is demand.
If anyone is interested in a formal training day for 1.5 can you please register you interest here:
http://www.joomladay.org.au/index.php?Itemid=56&option=com_contact&training=mel
The draft programme for the day can be seen here:
http://www.joomladay.org.au/index.php?Itemid=77&option=com_content
Melbourne will probably be late November but they'll need a good indication of numbers to be able to go ahead.
